Avonmouth Tank catch report 1/9/11

Went down the tanks last night with nigel2011. It was a nice calm night, no wind, tide was 14.01 meters. About 45 minutes into fishing i caught some ones line that was well over a 50 yards long with a brake-away weight a sole at just over 1lb 1/4, well over a foot long and the biggest Ive ever caught or seen, the rest of the night was a blank but i think that's more to do with the strong current.. sorry no pics from last night as my phone aint got a flash on it...

Re: Avonmouth Tank catch report 1/9/11

That was probably my line, mate. Lost it in the morning.

Shit, was that muddy. Had a good bite but no fish hooked. Lovely day for it though.

Hoping the fishing will pick up soon...as S & M says Aug was pretty crap.
I think such a high tide is too much. Reckon best tides are between 09,50 and 11.00. Will give it another go on Thursday evening. Might see you down there.

Re: Avonmouth Tank catch report 1/9/11

Hi all

I went down last night to use up my rag from the other night, only had 6 again. I went on the other side of the stream, right infront of the tanks. No mud, set up and was ready for when the tide came in. moved back only 20 foot. Re-baited at the stroke of high tide and fished for 1hr 45m after high tide. Got lots of bite but no fish. Got more bite on the down tide than at the other side of stream.

Getting the weight/tackle over the wall is not a problem, low water just walk up to the wall at high tide just reel in and the tackle comes to you gliding accross the top of the water.

Only problem is getting accross the stream or around the security gates. So over the stream it was. But after a week of high tides the banking is very muddy. So slipped on my arse, twice.

When the tide is a high one it is deffinaitley better than the other side. Me and Sully, if I can persuade him need to get some of the logs and make a bridge accross.

You up for that Sully?

Catch you all later.

Nigel
