1st Report

Hi all

Decided to go for an afternoon/evening plug/float/spin sesh instead of the evening/night rough ground sesh we had planned due to the late hour of high tide and work in the morning.
Went to a local rock mark and the 1st thing i noticed was the sound of the swell crashing on the rocks (not good).
Had a quick look before we got the rods out and wasnt as bad as it sounded, started close in with plugs and spinners and worked our way out with the ebbing tide.
Tried several different lures/plugs and did eventually hook a fish which i lost in the weed.
Seen plenty baitfish in the water and a couple of Gars jump as the lures hit the water but the fish were having none of it.
Moved right out to a low water mark and by this time the fog was so thick you couldnt see the start of the cove.
We were close to packing up when my mate hooked a nice fish on spun sandeel, got as close as i dared to the water with the net and seen a nice pollack of around 5-6lb break the surface then a rather large swell engulfed the fish. You can probably guess the rest several very colour words from my mate and it,s time to pack up and go home.
Was nice to see a pollack of that size show up though, onwards and upwards try again tomorrow .
I was gonna make a comment about catch and release but may have been in danger of getting the thick end of a spinning lol!

Yeah very frustrating tj but nice to be out and about. This mark is very close to home so will be back there soon. Heading along Pendeen way tomorrow so hopefully have a catch report instead of just a "report" lol!

Shame about the lack of fish, but at least you can get out and try again.

This was the 1st time i seen any amount of baitfish here this year so hopefully the predators wont be far behind.
Hoping to get a few trips in this week and if i,m lucky maybe a fish or two for the table

Nice first post too. It will be great to see reports from someone who fishes lures and plugs , I love fishing that way too. Last place I did that was .....Cornwall! Bit of a long cast from the midlands though ;)

I'm sure you will mate and what a great place to live to do some lure fishing! I'm on my holibobs in Looe for a week soon and will be taking a couple of carp rods with floats and lures for me and my son to have some fun
