Stolford 04.05.11

After having seen photos of 14lb and 20lb conger eels from Stolford that had been caught in the last few days I decided it would be prudent to pop over there and put a bait in the water.
Fished 2 up and 1.5 back down with 1 rod out for eels, unwashed squid and macky cocktail and the other out with lug and squid tip hoping for a codling (optimistic I know).
Had a bite within 15 mins of casting that resulted in a codling of less than a pound and then had a couple of other bites that i missed on the lug bait.

As soon as we were at high water the lugg rod was knocking like mad but I wasnt able to connect, probably very immature codling. Whilst waiting for the lugg rod to rattle again I noticed the other rod tip start to tremble a little and then more and more until the tip started to knock back and forward convincing me that a conger had picked up my bait. I hit the bite and the usual tug of war ensued! 5 minutes later I was taking the hooks out of this one. Not as big as I was hoping for but another species successfully targeted!


Not a monster but 6lb will do to whet my appetite!
