| Off out this afternoon in the Channel Got myself 2 dozen live peelers in the fridge (happy days) so off out this afternoon over high to see whats about. Gonna fish a big pebble bank that will allow me to use 3 rods as there will be loads of space and no need to keep moving back. Had a lot of codling from there in sept/oct so will be interested to see what else it'll throw up this time of year. | Re: Off out this afternoon in the Channel Well I went out and although I dont have stories of lunkers for you I did have quite a tidy little sesh. I fished 3 rods which was no problem as I was set up on top of a steep pebble bank a good way above the previous high water mark and had no need to move either tripod. Set my long rod up with a sandeel /squid wrap mounted on an up and over rig hoping for a ray but knowing that it would almost certainly produce a doggie and as I've not had either this year they were both outstanding for the species hunt. The other 2 rods were set up with pennel pulleys with crab on one and rag and or lug tipped with crab. First bite came an hour before high which produced a codling of about 12 oz this was followed by a green eel of about 2lbs a few minutes later. Nothing else until high water and then the long rod started nodding and produced a doggie. As soon as the tide started to run out the bites started coming regularly and I dropped a couple of fish and missed a handful of bites too but managed to catch my first bass of the year (12 oz maybe) for a total of 9 fish and 4 species.
