| Weymouth Stone Pier 6/4/2011 As it was such a lovely evening and I had some left over Rag from the weekend that needed using up as the wife was starting to complain about a strange smell in the fridge!! I got fishing about 6pm with my new Shimano Nexave rod which I still needed to Christen as previous trips to Bexi and Cogden to catch a Plaice (or even a Doggie! Yes i was that desperate) had been fruitless! I was starting to think the thing was jinxed!! But success at last (and a great sigh of relief from me) as within a 10 mins of putting a half dead Rag down the pier wall I had a positive bite that resulted in my first Wrasse of the year!  Over the next hour or so i had a few more little Wrasse untill dark and then Pout came on the feed which was great fun as within seconds of the bait hitting the bottom the rod tip would rattle and another Pout would had gobbled up my worms.  A few other people were on the pier enjoying the evening and were float fishing pieces of mackerel on sliding float rigs and were catching pollock one chap caught one that must have been 1lb plus and it looked like he put up quite a good fight on light gear. As i was packing up i noticed that the outer harbour was alive with Mullet feeding on the surface.. if only i had taken some white sliced with me! Who knows the next species could be a Mullet..
