Severn Beach - Sun 13th A relatively small tide run on Sunday so thought me and the lad would give Severn Beach a go with the intention of getting onto the 'sand' for some more comfortable casting and making of random piles of stones and mud pies... and that was just me! A beautiful morning with the bridges looking vibrant in the bright sun (I almost broke into song then). HT was 12.15pm so got there in good time to bait up with some frozen lug tipped off with squid, keeping the presentation quite small and omitting the elastic - which worked well for me a couple of weeks back. Was suprised to see several guys already setup and encouranged by the site of a "fishfinger" codling being landed on our arrival. Unfortunatly we blanked but there you go. Was good to get out and spend some "boys" time with the wee lad. P.S. The beach is now starting to look much cleaner with what you could just about call sand available on the ebb - not sure that will remain the same with the huge tides expected at the weekend. __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

Re: Severn Beach - Sun 13th Always good to get out. I'm trying to rig something up for the lad to use down there but it's difficult given a) the weight of lead needed to combat the tide and; b) my lad is only 6 and would probably struggle with anything over 8ft/3oz. He's got his own little shakespeare spinning rod but that wouldnt last long down there. Any suggestions welcome. __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

Re: Severn Beach - Sun 13th Try the old Portishead pier next to the posh marina apartments. This weekend will be too bigger tide I believe but on a smaller tide yer lad can hold his rod over the wall without having to use a heavy lead. Fishing is not too brill down there but you never know!
