 Avonmouth this morning Thought I would risk a trip to Avonmouth this morning. So 05.00am start - left the house it was pouring down. Do I care! Went down to Avonmouth by the power station or whatever it is. First problem, fell on my arse, hurting my back on my tackle box. Do I care? Next problem one of my rods refused to budge trying to fix the reel on to it. Now I always look after my kit and give it a nice clean and light oil where needed but it just would not budge. Finally got the reel on and found in the process I had broken the rod tip off. Genius - good that there was no-one else about!! My french was not too delicate! Finally got the other rod set up and could cast. Nothing happened at all but at high tide down to the minute almost, had a slight tug, wasn,t sure at first but the tip ducked again so I reeled in and there she was,... a lovely 3,5lb cod. The other crap was all forgotten straightaway. I reckon thats the great thing about sea fishing! Gutted the fish, full of prawn and a little peeler. Greedy thing still wanted to stuff its face. Bad luck, mate I will be stuffing mine tonight!! Caught using simple Pennel, 3,0 hook and three rag worms> What a glorious day!! Hope others had the same > By the way... 05.00am start tomorrow!!     |

| Re: Avonmouth this morning Had nothing at all, left and right the guys had nothing apart from a very small codling. Sea weed was really bad. Tide was really steaming past, did not find it soo bad saturday, used 190g lead but it was being dragged away like nothing. Had to rely on the frozen smoked haddock in the freezer. Was very tasty though! |
