OH MY COD What a stupid stupid evening

well last night it was the delayed planned trip up to the channel.
Despite being a school night
The weather was due to clear and with a nice 10pm low lets rock!!

after picking up shane who only decided 30 mins before he fancied the jaunt as well, It was off to get baggie who had managed an early pass ( well to be honest he was home alone so had no one to say no ) so at 6.45 and a bit we were all in My Ping mobile and heading up to the M5,

now this is where the story really starts, as we get to m5 junction there are loads of roadworks and me being a muppet take wrong turning up towards sowton,, ok no probs just 2 min detour
.. well this actually proved a bit of a fortunate act as Baggies phone goes off
the conversation then went something like this

Baggie " hi honey"

Mrs B " where are you?"

Baggie " Just off Fishing"

Mrs B " you have locked me out"

Baggie " where are you?"

Mrs B " sat in car on the driveway with the kids!! "

Baggie " OH F@#$...F@#$ ...F@#$ ........Bo~~*£$.......Bo~~*£$...etc etc"

Baggie " F@#$...F@#$ ...F@#$ ........Bo~~*£$.......Bo~~*£$...etc etc"

Pingu " I take it I'm turning arround then ?"

so after this wee detour we are back on track and its 8pm and we are at last on the M5

eventually off M5 and onto the slow road from Bridgewater to Minehead ( the gasworks beach was our intended venue )

Shane was pointing out the stupidness of this plan now and was quitely pointing out every PUB as we went past ( i have def been a bad influence on this guy )

Now i will admit i was a tad anxious about the time now and wanting to fish low tide as the channel does not wait for anyone after,
and therfore I think i was a bit strong on the right foot as went round a bend or 2 near kilve ( shane who had a bad crash a few years back was haveing flashbacks ) but i just manage to hold it just

untill the whole plan is scuppered as we get to a hoofing great diversion near minehead ...

so we turn back arround and head back to Lilstock

now i was even more concerened and i was def a tad lead footed and as we went through the country lanes,

well it looked a nice clear road ahead,

eeer well it wasnt it was a big open field gate,

the road actually went left very sharply ,

but I just stamped on the brakes and slid into the wet and muddy field

" Bo[[@(£s !!!"

so 20 mins later we have pushed the car out

and get eventually to Lilstock and set up by 9.40
no one else there so I fished over the pipe , shane and baggie just right

well first rod out big lug worm bait and 4/0 pennel, 2nd rod, cast and crackoff , this was just getting better and better

so swapped reels and in process tipped remaining worms inrto seat box...my god what else can go wrong

eventually 2 rods in water bang on low at 10 other in squid and bluey

well it was quieter than a schoolboy in older sisters bedroom , so i got too looking at the fossils in the rocks



then when winding in for rebaiting worm rod for 2nd time theres a good solid weight( i had had the smallest click of ratchet 5 mins before) oooh fish on,
then it snaggs then its light, but amazeingly there was still a fish ( well ok only just a fish) with this tiny codling that had taken the top pennel 4/0 hook)



this of course meant we fished on a tad more....I did though manage to tangle and retrieve the original lead i lost getting a soaked foot in the process

but nowt else happened for anyone till we gave up at 12.40 , for the drive home

which thank god was un eventfull, and threw my fat ass into bed at 2.25 ( much to discust of Mrs P who i woke up)

so an eventfull night, yes we got points for the cod, and for once lost no gear there
But Oh My Cod was it worth it??

YEP I guess it was, because you all know i'll be back, just maybe not tonight

Shame you were on the other side of the country. I would have come down and dragged your car out of the field in seconds :)

The baggie part of the story reminds me of the time I got home from work and though I know I have forgotten something.......oh shiiiii I forget to collect my wife from her work!!!
