I've fished there in the summer, but not at this time of year. Had some Flounder, school bass & even a bonus plaice. I fished up near the town. I'd imagine you'd be in with a chance of a flounder or two & maybe the odd bass. Ask for advice in the local tackle shop. Good luck. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey...

Re: Appledore The area you are looking to fish is directly into the main channel so you will have to cope with flood water from the river and 6 metres of tide. it is probably a much better idea to fish from the lifeboat station slip way which is just a few hundred yards up river on the same side. There are plenty of codling in the river at the moment and rag or lug seems to be the bait tight lines

Re: Appledore thanks for the replies :) If the river is full of flood water.. How come it will be better to fish near the lifeboat station if thats further 'up the river' ? Or is the lifeboat station more towards the sea ? Thanks again Leigh

Re: Appledore The area that you have ringed is the main channel for all the water coming down from both the taw and the torridge rivers. The main channel is a long way out from the lifeboat station which is opposite the taw so you only have to worry about the water from the torridge. It is still a 5 oz gripper job but definately worth a go as the codling like these conditions. The lifeboat station is on the same side and up stream just the other side of the skern which is the tidal bay you can see on the map.
