| Aust yesterday and Burnham on Sea today Went to Aust yesterday and fished from low water up to high and back 2 hours. Started off with mixed feelings about where we were and the conditions, it was a beautiful day and the mark was very comfortable if not a little treacherous to get to. The weather wasnt particularly good as far as fishing is concerned,it was flat calm like a pond and coupled with a small tide we were not that confident. About an hour into the tide I had a rattle that produced a codling of about a pound which was followed shortly by another to my mates rod , I then had a bite which i hit and proceeded to winch in from about 100 yards out a flounder of about a pound in weight that had picked up a single rag on a size 1 salt water champion. It all went quiet then for an hour or so leaving us feeling like it had just been a flash in the pan but fortunately the lull didnt last and we started getting bites again. My mate was using his standard cod approach, 4/0 Big Mouths with a sausage of worm on the end which was working against him and he dropped more fish than he landed until he got pissed off with me telling him to "scale it down" where upon he dropped to 2/0 mustads and started connecting and landing fish. I managed to pick up a couple of straps which both fell to my 16ft "Hell Bender" not a rod I would normally choose to use in the BC but both my "usual" rods are at veals being re rung with fujis, it was good to play in those eels on a rod where you really did feel every twist and turn! The codling kept coming and we finished up with over a dozen between us, 3 of which were takers the biggest of which went to 3.5lbs. Today I decided to use up the remaining bait and went to Burnham on sea for a couple of hours before picking up my nipper from his mums. Fished the slipway as the beach is covered in shit loads of silt at present. Very quiet but managed a small codling and an even smaller whiting not brilliant but better than being at work! __________________ Species so far for 2012 Pike,Chub,Roach,Ruffe,Mackeral,Plaice, LSD,Pout |

| Re: Aust yesterday and Burnham on Sea today ![]() A sample of fish that we took at Aust, the smaller of the two was taken as it didnt go back very strongly and was floundering on the surface, tasted good though! __________________ Species so far for 2012 Pike,Chub,Roach,Ruffe,Mackeral,Plaice, LSD,Pout |
