| Exmouth Docks Went down to Exmouth docks this evening for about three hours of the incoming tide. Not good. Ended up with lots of weed and just one little stone fish. Was using a 3oz weight with the anchor spikes but couldn't get it to hold the bottom. I was using rag worm as bait but nothing was biting. Anybody fish round that area got any tips would be very grateful. |

| Re: Exmouth Docks Use a much much bigger weight and also I'd only fish there over slack water due to the tide run... which is massive ! |

| Re: Exmouth Docks As Leigh say, due to the amount of water funneling out of the estuary through a very small gap, the tide run at the docks can be savage. 3oz of lead, grippers or otherwise, just isn't enough to hold bottom and I'd say even twice that much wouldn't do the trick on a big spring. You might get away with it for half an hour over slack water, but that's about it. Whilst the summer species are about why not try using that current to you advantage and float a fish bait for a gar or a mackerel? Otherwise forget trying to bottom fish in the main flow and just drop a small weight with a size 2 hook straight down the side and pick up a Wrase or Bass close in. __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods.
