Late report on the above. I did return for a few days dangling but didnt land a sole. I managed as many pout and dogs as you'd hope to get in a lifetime plus a couple of gurnard. I actually cut my planned stay short by a night due to having an upset belly.
Will try and get back down there again on the next lot of neaps with small hooks and pinned down baits!
