My outlaws live in Townshend and work in Hayle - its a nice area if a little rural lol..
I was down there last week but unfortunately was too busy to fish and didnt have the car anyhow..
For some good sport head to Rinsey bay, rockpooling like youve never seen - 20 foot deep pools, clear as gin ! massive ballan wrasse off the rocks to the left ( up on the first set of ledges )
fishing the beaches at Hayle is mostly for Bass and flatties as its mile after mile of clean sand !
St Ives has a pier where lots of people fish but beware of the lesser spotted vampire seagulls that dive bomb at any sign of food 1
Getting bait can be a pain but there is a little shop on the main road - i will go dig out the address , which sells good worms and frozen eels etc..
Penzance beaches around Marazion are good marks and you can dig around there too ... its only 30 mins from Hayle max..
on another note....Philps pasty shop in Hayle - OMG - deffo worth a visit for a box or two lol
there is a little tackle shop in the indoor market but its not even worth visiting as a last resort

will add any more info that might help when i remember it lol
Steve

edit -

http://www.englishfishingguide.co.uk.../sea-fishing/4

the shop is Newtown angling and looks like a big portacabin on the side of the road..- Newtown, Germoe, Penzance - 01736 763 721

There is another shop in Hayle - Hayle Bait & Tackle Shop, Hayle TR27 4AB

but not sure ive been there even

Gwithian right upto Godrevey produces fish and is worth a visit just to see the seals up by Godrevey lighthouse

Steve

No worries mate - have fun down there and deffo try and get to Godrevey - the missus will love it - its a fantastic walk high along the cliffs and goes up to a national trust park with an ice cream van !
ive had Bass off the beach at perranuthnoe on rag but to be honest id be confident throwing a bait in anywhere down there
