mackerel are around East Devon! Whipped a couple out in a brief session on Budleigh seafront. To break in the casting arm, so to speak! After 1.5 hours of spinning you sure realise you use muscles for casting that aren't used for much else! ![]() Two decent sized mackerel for breakfast anyway! ![]() __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!

After 30 mins of feathering with 6 oz at chesil last year I'm inclined to agree with you - I think my arms fell off . __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |

Re: mackerel are around East Devon! Digesting one of them, and sadly despite some really nice 8am+ sunshine down at Budleigh, drew a blank this morning - Was only there for 90 minutes though! Got hungry and fancied some mackerel. 6OZ? Jesus H. I think a 4 oz is probably O.T.T - I must buy some 3 oz weights some time. I also had a problem this morning with my line holding finger getting sore. Soon solved that by wrapping the finger-end with some duct tape I had in the car! ! __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!

Re: mackerel are around East Devon! One more whipped out tonight in a brief but tiring session! I'm hoping they come in in numbers as tonight I had a rig crack off on casting which was gutting __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!

Re: mackerel are around East Devon! Good to hear !> I used 5-6 ounce leads when feathering as it makes the rig sink to the bottom quicker than a 2 ounce lead. each to their own though :)

Re: mackerel are around East Devon! I was only using a 4oz weight when it snapped off. [unhappy] Got me wondering if there could be a way of "double knotting" my snap swivel or not. __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!

Re: mackerel are around East Devon! Bugger! I thought due to the late high tide, I would give it a miss - gutted. Are they still coming in even when the tide is only half in? Tomorrow's forecast is looking good so tempted to go and fish from 8 until dark. Catching most of the incoming tide then - high at 11.30pm. Often wondered what lures work best when the sun has set too. __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!

Re: mackerel are around East Devon! Hi... i'm thinking of going over to Burton Bradstock on friday.. Do you know if the mackerel are up that far? Not been feathering for few years and i fel the need to bag me some mackerel and i went there about 3 years ago and had an absolulty amazing catch (in excess of 50 in just 3 hours). Not sure where else to go as i live in minehead but love south coast and am looking for easy access fishing spots. Simon
