More dogs than Crufts!

Hi all, due to a cancelled get together with a friend of mine I had an unexpected opportunity to fish this morning. Headed down to St Audries Bay and fished one rod on a 3 hook flapper loaded up with a combo of black lug, black lug/sqiud and sandeel tipped with squid on 1 rod and squid/sandeel wraps on an up and over rig on the other.

Caught nothing for the first hour of my sesh which was 4 hours into the flood but an hour before high it all changed with dog after dog falling to the sandeel/squid combo. I was getting no action at all on the blacks so changed the other rod over to a clipped up rig with squid only and that one started to produce regularly too.

As the ebb came on I decided to fish 1 rod in short, maybe 12 metres out with hope of picking up something a little more interesting and about an hour later I got a bite which was very "strap like" but unfortunately I failed to connect and when the rig was retrieved I noticed what appeared to be tooth marks in the 40lb amnesia which was probably not the best choice of hooklink in the BC at with congers present.

All in all not a bad sesh even though it was a dog fest, at the end of the day I hadnt planned to go out and fish and the few hours I had was "gifted" to me by the person that had let me down at short notice so no complaints from me!

Roll on friday when I'm hoping to fish Porlock or if I can muster the balls/enthusiasm Selworthy, has anybody fished the latter venue? I've not fished either of them but have been given some good info ref Porlock but its the big walk/climb that fills me with trepidation for a session at Selworthy!

Tight lines!

Good luck Friday Nick.
Never heard of Selworthy, but know you need a long chuck at Porlock at High water.
