| Re: scooby doo II hi guys well with the spectacular weather it looked good for a nice 4 hr trip, the sea condition was an absolute mill pond , we steamed out of watchet for 20 minutes to a mark just past doniford bay. there was 7 of us in the boat i was using a downtide flyer rig all the other guys was using the skippers gear just usual downtiding tactics , bait was sprat mackerel and squid!!!. first drop of the day and one of the boys decided first fish of the day has to buy the round in the pub !!!!, no worries and sure enough i get the first bite of the day i strike into it, fish on!! amid jeers of buying the beers!!!!, bites come all round the boat!!!!, my reel decides to have a hissy fit!!, (thankfully), so while im trying to sort out my reel, one of the boys lands a dogfish of about a 1lb , no round for me!!!, i manage to sort my reel out and land a thornback of about 4lb, amongst the other lads theres an absolutely cracking whiting of about 2 lb !!!! , and 4 thornbacks to to about 5lb!!! promising signs for the first 25 minutes of the session!!!, overall we had 32 fish between us 1 whiting 14dogfish biggest about 2lb and 17thornbacks biggest about 8lb!!!!! an absolutely cracking 4hr session!!! and even better me and a mate are going back out today as walk ons to help fill the boat!!!, but i gotta dive to a tackle shop now as my poor old faithful servant( 17yrs) of a multiplier is dead!!!!! |
