BC last night

Fished near to Hinkley Point Power Station last night for 6 codling up to a pound. All fish bar 1 came on the flood and all fell to worm tipped with squid.

Incidently I was using lug and rag that had been frozen after my previous sesh, decided that it might be a good idea to give frozen and then thawed bait a go to see if the fish would have it and they did! The worm wasnt gutted out just frozen and thawed out about an hour before fishing. A guy fishing 40 yards down the beach was using freshly dug lug and he blanked!

Re: BC last night

Well done Nick. Interesting to hear about the worm? Did it defrost well? Hooking a problem?

Best of luck for today.

Re: BC last night

Hi Rich, i was using kamasin matches in size 1 and found these to be fine enough to slide the worm up the shank without to much problem. Had to be a little more tactful with the lug obviously but with care they were quite usable. I also head hooked 3 worms and bound them around a strip of squid back up the hook shank/snood and this worked well too.
A mate of mine has been freezing down unused worm on snoods for years and reckons it consistantly out catches live worm due to the fact that as it thaws the scent trail is directly in the area of the baited rig. He's used this method from the shore and the boat and reckons it works very well indeed. I'll be trying that next!
