| Re: any catches down in cornwall? Hi, I was brought up in Cornwall and used to regularly go float fishing with my old man using rag worm dug from the small harbour by the dry docks at Ross Bridge in Penzance (something that has since been banned for whatever reason). We used to regularly bring back Pollock by the dozen from places like Penzance Pier, Porthcurnoe and Gurnards Head (the latter being the best spot but treacherous to get too). Inexplicably I got out of the habit of fishing having moved away. I’ve only really got back into it this year and have been lucky enough to get down to Cornwall a couple of times this year. The general feeling amongst other anglers is that there just aint the fish there used to be particularly in this South West corner and around to the Atlantic. In three days of fishing earlier this summer I managed just one scad. My dad using fresh rag only had one very small Pollock and a handful of scad. Also tried quite a lot of spinning at places like Perranuthanoe and Marazion but all blank. Would be interesting to hear from others what other parts of the county are fishing like. __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad. |

| Re: any catches down in cornwall? A few fish around squidge, bass should be red hot over the next few weeks,a few codling around with coalies, pout, pollack, dogs and i am lead to believe theres still the odd ray about. Flounder are another possibilitie and i reckon the conger and huss should still be worth a go. Get out fishing is my advice to you, never know you might bag up. |
