Unhappy bude 5th of next month

hi im off down bude the 5th of next month for a week. i have been doing this for the last 4 years and have fished the brakewater but have blanked every time . i am a course fisherman and do fairly well so have used my course tactics and float fished but this seams to not work should i buy a beachcaster and use this method or should i try spinning so what im after is some advice as to what fish i need to be targeting and what method would be best at this time of year what bait or lure please please help i just want a sea fish i have caught off boats but not from the shore any advice would be a help cheers matt

best thing would be to hedge your bets and fish a rod on the bottom with a bait of mackerel, worm or sandeel, and then try spinning or plugging at the same time.
Fishing off the breakwater you don't need massive casts you will catch bass only 10 to 20yds out a lot of the time. Try to intercept the bass as they either move into the harbour or move out with the tide. They will quite often just sit behind the point in a good bit of moving water waiting for stuff to come to them.
Try to find some deep pits behind the sand bars and these are good for all sorts with a worm being good for flatties.
