| Re: How To Freeline? what i do when i free line is use a 3oz bomb wieght. next up the line have a bead tied, then a sliding swivel with a long trace and a smallish hook (size 2). when you cast the bait will sit on the surface and gradually slide down till the swivel hits the bead. i would use small squid strips, mackerel strips or a whole sandeel. good luck mate and hope it helps |

| Re: How To Freeline? A method i have used for freelining is to tie the appropriate hook size to your line put you bait on ie Sandeel Prawn, live pollack, pout, and just cast them out there, no weight at all, to do this you will need a whippy type soft rod of about 9 feet and no more than 7/8 BS line. If you are strugglig to cast a prawn out put two on at the same time back to back. Cast the bait as softly as you can, otherwise the hook will tear out and let the bait slowly sink. The freelining method i have outlined here is productive off piers and rock marks with some depth of water ie 15 FT + and a very good method off beaches at night where distance is not so important and where Bass will come extremely close to the shoreline. |
