Question Well who'da thunk it?! Never caught wrasse like that before!

I've been spinning again for quite some years now. I've also had my fair share of wrasse bashing. I've spun a-plenty in spots which have as many (if not more) wrasse as macky or bass, but not once have I seen or heard of a wrasse being taken on a spinner... until tonight!

Went out to a fave spot to spin for a few macky and bass... didn't pull out any bass but had 3 macky, 1 little pollack and 2 wrasse! Very odd indeed!

The first little one was on a silver 7g toby and I would have thought this to be something of a fluke. Later I switched to a tassie lure and hooked into what I thought was a reasonable (to me this means 1lb+) bass. After getting it through the weed I found it to be another wrasse, this one had actually put up a bit of a fight and taken a bigger lure.

I've not heard of wrasse being taken on spinners before. Last I heard they will usually only take worms & crabs - and the ocassional sandhopper.

There's certainly been an abundance of whitebait at the spot this year, could it be the wrasse have adatpted and decided to go for the most plentiful, easy food source - and so are being duped by spinners too?!

Anyone here ever had a wrasse on a spinner?
