| Blowy day at the pipe K & I went to Lilstock yesterday for a neap tide 4 up 2 down and fished by the pipe on our lonesomes. Started off with a pleasant breeze from left to right. 2nd put in, tap tap drop back & K had a little strap conger on half a mack fillet.  This was the only bite we saw all day as the wind picked up & up & up. A couple of put ins later K pulled out a doggy on mack again. Then I pulled out a doggy who was trying to choke himself on a whole squid. Baits continued to be munched all day just the mack skin left after as little as 10 minutes. By high tide I was having trouble getting enough range to hit the "clean ground" the wind was streaming an enormous bow in the line on every cast. As the tide dropped the baits continued to disappear & eventually I hooked 1 of the culprits. Crabs - don't you just love them  .Only lost 3 lots of tackle, 1 a crack off on a fixed spool when the bail arm came over  . Waited till 4.5 hours down to get a look at the ground we were fishing over. Unfortuantely on the neap it didn't show - rocks, rocks & more rocks. Had a large meal in a pub in Bridgwater on the way home, which went down well. There are fish out there - just not many - hoping for another day, when the tip is moving because of fish & not strong winds. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>     |
