The damn weed moved in this evening so I gave up after finally hauling in a 2lb kelp.....

Hoping it's gone by Wednesday as it's a later, stronger high tide so hoping conditions are more condusive.

Branscombe does sound very tempting indeed. Is it similar to Budleigh beach for how deep the water is at high tide? What kind of extra gear or bait do you think I'll need for that? Only done spinning up to now but do have a couple of bottom fishing rigs I think, and a rest. :)

Hi Jason,

We'll be using 12'/13' beachcasters Wednesday, but don't worry if you haven't got any cause I'm sure between Dave and I we've got a few spare . More important is bait. You'll need some peeler crab (from Gerry in the newsagents on the docks, or Exeter angling). If that's not possible, then try some frozen crab from the fish shop next door to the newsagents. About a doz crabs should last you a couple of hours with two rods. Bring your stand, (Oh and maybe your spinning kit, Branscombes good for that too!) we'll do everything else.

I might be able to "beachcast" using my 10 foot uptiders but I'll try to bring both

What times are you trying to get there / where to park / what time finishing (I will have to be home by 10/10.30ish I think - no night time for me)

I am on audit all day tomorrow which is a bit of a pain as I won't be able to get bait. I have frozen mackerel that I could bring, but if someone can bring me some crab I am happy to reimburse any costs incurred.

I also have a sinking Rapala lure that I would like to try and have been scared to so far...
