| big bite branscombe went to branscombe last night really high tide that didnt seem to go , arrived six left at 10.30,using just squid after just half hour wap the rod bent in half i jumped up excited(as i still am yet to catch a in size fish)(this was my 8th time shore fishing)whipped the rod back nothing but big squid bait had been eaten down to the hook,new rig,back in ,half hour wap rod in half thinking id done something wrong i waited, wap,rod bent carefully lowered rod whilst reeling snapped it back reeled in fast nothing,squid eaten down to hook....3rd time lucky,hour later rod bent jarded it wow something was on and it felt huge ,reeled in rod in groin ....boy it was hard work,lowered rod for a second to raise and reel again to find it had gone slack , and worse than the my shock leader had gone rig and wieght....got set up again and nothing....this fishing lark is harder than it looks,im clearly doing something wrong....out again saturday, and going to join exmouth saa to get help |

| Re: big bite branscombe DJ How are you hooking your squid mate?? I thread the hook through the squid a few times then end up with the point going through the head. Bind the squid on to keep it squid like or use a pennel as already suggested. This way the hook is in the bottom of the bait & if a fish grabs anything but tentacles there is a good chance of getting a hookup.
