BC Today

Hi Guys, fished lower BC today. Started off on a low water mark looking for Smooth Hounds but nothing doing unfortunately,so when I was forced to move off the reef by the incoming tide I decided to drop back to the main beach and dig some lug whilst waiting for the last two hours off the flood.

Managed to dig a couple of dozen of prime lug which I combined with squid tip on a 3 hook flapper on one rod and on the other I baited a 3/0 2/0 pennel with squid and sand eel wrap. Out they went, the worm rod at about 70 yards and the other at about 120 on or close to some broken ground.

Nothing much occured until 30 mins before high water when my sand eel squid rod nodded gently and then thumped over. Two mins later a nice little bass of about 1.5 lb lay at my feet, well chuffed!
I decided that as I'd not had any action on the worm baits that I'd switch to squid/eel and fish the tide out with the same bait on both rods hoping for another bass.
10 mins later the same rod nodded once and then slack lined, I tightened the line and the rod tip rattled a couple of times and all went slack again which told me "game on!" I struck firmly and felt a solid resistance on the other end. A few minutes later a thornback of about 5lbs lay at my feet, again well chuffed.
