huss or doggie?

hi all, went back to trefusis last night,to fish over the high, the only thing i managed to catch was what i thought to be a dogfish.but on closer inspection, the nasal flaps were flared unlike other doggies i've caught. am i right to call it a huss? pics would help, but i returned it before thinking about it, DOH!.

i don't know what i'm doing wrong, but i i'm not catching anything else lately, i use fresh, live bait, fish 2 rods, 1 in close, the other out further. i use pulley rigs or running ledgers and fish 9 or 10 pm tides due to life. am thinking location or sea state...

Re: huss or doggie?

Stick with it mate....
Last year all I could catch were doggies, whiting & pout, whilst the missus (on the other rod on the rest) was catching sole, gurnard & other more exciting species. This year my luck seems to have changed, or I have learnt something, through the forums & practise. I can't say i'm doing much different rather than trying to fish at the right times for a venue & perhaps changing the bait more often.
Try to have a chat with other anglers & see how they are doing.
There's a great saying (think it came from Rexy) when times are hard....
"If FISHING was that easy... It would be called CATCHING"
then none of us would bother.
