Lilstock 3/5/9 Got up this morning with no intention of fishing. Quick surf on the PC & I became interested. Neap tides & a new, non muddy venue, I had 30 mins to pack gear, bait & raise K from slumbers. 50 minutes later we set off minus directions & suprisingly found the venue first time. After a short walk we saw the channel & there were already 1/2 dozen anglers fishing away. Am sure 1 of them was landing a little ray as we walked along to the right for a space. After a quick chat with the guy next door it was chuck 'em out 1/2 a fillet of mack on a pulley pennel. First chucks the rod tips were dancing, unfortunately it was rather windy and stayed that way all day. Second put in & we detected a bite. K had a nice doggy. Forced back up the beach by the tide, we lobbed them out again. Had a nice slack liner, and wound down to a solid weight which came in slowly. My first shore caught Ray, which went 7.5lbs . Had another doggy just before the tide turned. Was slow going but didn’t mind was still chuffed. Everyone else left after an hour of the ebb so, we moved down to the waters edge for 1 last put in & kept the rod tips low. Nod Nod.... magic... another fish that pulled back. Different fight but this conger came to the shore. Will be going back again. If the wind calmed down it would have been a scorcher. May even give it a go at night – the pebbles aren’t that big, but big enough to turn an ankle if not carefull. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Lilstock 3/5/9 Hi Spahill, were you fishing to the right of the pipe? It's supposed to be really snaggy there, never fished it myself but may drop in there tomorrow rather than fish Minehead as intended. Congrats on the fish mate, I've not had a ray or a conger this year and so they are both on my "hit list".

Re: Lilstock 3/5/9 Hi Nick Yes was 60-80yds to the right of the pipe. I had read it was snaggy in the bay to the right & was hoping I wasn't too close to it. Lost 3 lots of end tackle - 3 more than I like, but the fish were worth it. Good luck mate - hope the wind drops for you. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>
