Dorset/Devon Marks Hi guys, I'm fishing friday and was wondering how things are going in the above areas. The range I'm looking at is from Exmouth to Portland as the BC is still on very poor form at present. Incidently does anyone on here target conger in the North Devon area as I was wondering if it was too early to try for them.

Re: Dorset/Devon Marks Hi Nick Haven't heard a peep from that zone (or anywhere really). Am hoping to get to West bex on Saturday. Two weeks earlier than planned, but spent last w/e respooling reels & tying rigs, now want to see if I can still cast far enough to hit the wet stuff. Look forward to a report to see where is worth avoiding or trying. Hope you find lots of . __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Dorset/Devon Marks I had a call from a mate who lives at Westbay, very quiet generaly. He fished 4 hours at Seatown today for zero bites. Looking at the reports I'm tempted to save my money and wait a week or two, but then again......... ![]()

Re: Dorset/Devon Marks Hi Nick. You should save your money. As is usual for the area at this time of year it is very quite. The big Wrasse have moved offshore as have the congers. May is one of the best times to get a big Conger on Portland. Chesil is devoid of fish and will probably stay that way for the next 2 to 3 weeks depending on the tempreture and when the Mackerel will move in. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk

Re: Dorset/Devon Marks Sounds like excellent advice, I've got a couple of other projects that need my attention so best I get them sorted before the fishing gets better.

Hi mate, where do you advise that I fish in the Portland area for the conger? I've had em in the BC but only upto scraper doubles and am looking to locate some bigger fish. |

Re: Dorset/Devon Marks One of the best areas to fish on Portland for big COnger is Chine on the East side. As you come out of Eason towards the bill there is a pumping station on your left hand side. Park somewhere near there and walk down the track to the top of the cliffs and turn right. Find a position about 100m to the right. It is quite high and fairly rough. You need to fish with someone else in case you do hook a big one. Ones upto 60lb have been reported in the past, but you have to get down from the top to the bottom to land the fish. You cant fish from the cliff base because you need the height to get out past the rocks. You can get small Conger from the left of the bill. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk
