Bantham Hi guys, Me and my mate Tom are thinking of going to bantham to try for sum Dab, but now im thinking about it, will there be any about at this time of year? Well if so, was just wondering if you had any tips, i.e. what bait (gone of lug I hear is good, if so how gone off?) Where abouts, what rigs, what hooks, how far to cast, any other things to bear in mind... Thanks alot, Saul.

Re: Bantham febuary and march usually produce the biggest dabs down that area mate ,you can catch them during daylight on the incoming tide and at night.some do go into the estuary but are gone within an hour or two after high water (they dont want to get stuck in estuary !!) two and three hook flappers with size 2 0r 4 hooks preferred with gutted black lug (you can dig in estuary at low water) they will also take rag worm, cockles and mussel baits which can also be found in bantham estuary __________________ obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated .. species hunt team winner 2005 and 2006..with old smoothy..

Re: Bantham So will i defo get some lug if i go down to the estuary at low tide with a spade or two? cuz i don't wanna end up with no bait! And also i was picturing it in my head, if i went to the mouth of the estuary, would it make sense to cast one rod out over the breakers with lug, and then another rod into the estuary with sandeels for schoolies? And why do you say 'gutted' lug? Thanks again!

Re: Bantham Just seen that 'gutted lug' is actually gutted lug. It says that It's usually used to preserve the bait, would that be nessessary if i was collecting them fresh? What is the advantage? Gonna go down on sat, fingers crossed!
