Clevedon 25/1 (sun) The plan is to fish Clevedon on the evening tide. Big smelly baits to persuade a c o d to bite Will probably be posting a blank though. Never fished it before so wish me a snag free trip. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Clevedon 25/1 (sun) hi mate fished it twice in the last month, you shouldnt lose any gear it is sandy bottom after 50yds out, only caugjht 4 whiting between 3 of us and only one of them was a keeper and believe me when i say we had every bait going that day, 330 miles round trip and not a cod in sight-you want to try battery point,we only found this place after we packed up and from what the locals say it has been fishing well, and whats more you can even fish it on low water, and even on low your in deep water,20lbs plus cod have been caught from this point the week b4 we fished clevedon, its worth giving this point a try and i would recommend it as it does look very promising-hope you have a good session-good luck

Re: Clevedon 25/1 (sun) Hi mate, you can only fish Battery Point on small neaps, the tide runs like Linford Christie on speed at this mark and you'll lose gear every cast. If it's not a neap you'd be better off fishing up to the right a hundred yards or so, walk to the woods and down over and fish onto sand. You'll have to work your way back up the rocky ledges as the tide advances. Dont believe too much of what you hear about 20 pound cod, they are caught from this stretch and many other places in the channel but the fishing is generally not good at present. Good luck.

Re: Clevedon 25/1 (sun) It's a handle I gave myself when I started sea fishing a few years ago. My reply was in response to your suggestion that spahill should fish Battery Point. Most anglers in this part of the world know that Battery is a tackle grave yard on anything more than small neaps. Ladye Bay can be fished on most tides and any state of tide, however the biggest springs will give you major grief due to the tide run and the ammount of debris that is pushed thru. If you visit www.veals.co.uk and reference the section dedicated to local fishing (marks and catch reports) you'll get a more accurate picture of whats actually been coming out and the best marks and tide condition to fish. Thats what I'd do before travelling 300 odd miles Last edited by nickthenovice; 01-25-2009 at 06:04 PM. Reason: incomplete post
