Charter trip anyone ?

Chaps,

With the new year heading our way Im in the mood for a days fishing and wandered if anyone would be interested in a charter trip in March time ?

Organised one of these last year for my old mans 60th and swore Id never do it again as I was sick most of the trip and it was abondoned after three hours due to the rough seas ! However I wouldnt mind another go and finally catching a decent pollack or cod - so Im happy to organise a trip if people want to go.

Early thoughts are Gemini out of Dartmouth, White Rebel ( alhtough I dont know where that is but Ive heard plenty of good reports of this boat ), True Blue out of Poole.

Any interest or suggestions on skippers and boats please just let me know.

Tommy

Re: Charter trip anyone ?

Pat Carling out of Weymouth aboard Channel Cheiftan is supberb....He seems to want you to catch fish over taking your money. Been out with him 3 or 4 times and all were good...I've done bass, wrecking and a bream trip...The later probably being the most entertaining...Bream drive you mental...why oh why can't their chops be just that little bit bigger? The wrecking sessions threw up some pretty good pollock and good ling too....

On the flip side I have also been out with skippers who anchor up and read the paper until its time to go in...If you catch so be it if not tough...Pat is a genuine skipper, a proper bloke and puts you on the fish...

Depends where, when and for what, but I might be up for wetting a line

Re: Charter trip anyone ?

Hi all,

Yes please, I will be up for a trip as long as it doesn't interfere with any of the Blandford SAC dates.

I would prefer Weymouth or Dartmouth, less sea travelling distance to the fishing grounds. March is at the start of the Pollock season, so should be a good month.

I should be able to muster another couple of bodies if required.

I'm out with Pat Carlin (Weymouth) on the 11th January on a Pollock trip for the first time, I have been told that he is one of the best out of Weymouth. I am also out in February and March with Dave Harrison on Gemini from Dartmouth hunting the large Pollock!!!.

Regards

Drew

Re: Charter trip anyone ?

Hi all,

I thought that there would be a few more members signing up for this trip, what has happened to the regulars on here? at one time we were considering booking a trip every other month, now we can't book one once a year.

Andy G will certainly be available and will add his name when he returns from holiday, and I'm sure that John Marshal will add his name when he sees it. Cuckoo might if persuaded and I'm certain that the "Boss" will add his name if available.

Come on folks keep the flag flying.

Regards

Drew

Re: Charter trip anyone ?

I really would love to join you guys but my last 2 trips were a waste of money, as I spent all time 'groundbaiting' even though I took travel ease tablets.

Bummer really, as I love boat fishing

Re: Charter trip anyone ?

Hi all,

It's not me that is organizing this trip it is Tommy but I think that we should support him, after all he is doing it for the Forum.

I feel that if someone is trying to make the Forum a better place he or she should be supported as much as possible, otherwise what is the point of a Forum? is it a place for reports only? recently I have been reading about where people are fishing and what they catch. We should be meeting up more and mixing with other members.

Please support this event.

Regards

Drew

Re: Charter trip anyone ?

Chaps,

Ive now been booked onto another charter trip with some old members off this forum - who dont use it so much now because they dont have time.

However Im still up for arranging a trip if you lot fancy it - looking for a port that allows as little travelling time to the wrecks as possible as Ill probably be the one chundering !! On that theory I would go for Dartmouth or near there - went out on Gemini last year and it was a nightmare.

Dave should have cancelled the boat due to bad weather but took us out and we returned two hours later with half the crew sick and only one fish caught by the first mate - it was a bad experience !! However I have heard hes generally a v good skipper so if Drew reckons hes ok Id be up for arranging another trip with him mid March for some decent pollack.

So the long and short of it is Ill see what dates hes got available and put them on here - then we can see whos up for it and whos coming and if we get enough Ill book it - sound ok ? The trip will have to be mid weekas well.

Tommy

Twidler - I usually end up being sick on these trips but Ive found some information on a patch that you can get from your GP that might just work - Ill PM you with the details if you are interested mate ? Anything that can help would be great cause Id love to be out after the decent fish but being sick is seriously grim aint it ! Anyway let me know

Re: Charter trip anyone ?

oh...cheers tommy but mid week will be hard for me till mid summer,so il say no for now, but if work is realy dead i may be able to fill in for a lsat minute drop out. but i will be able to do most weekend trips all year round

also just a thought
if intrested im happy to organise a mid summer (june) cod hopping trip, it would be going from lymington on my m8s boats wight reble with eric or shogun with rob, which boat would depend on numbers as wight reble is great with up to 7-8 and shogun is for up to 10-12. im sure a few remember the trips from last year.
but please be aware i will request deposits of 50% or more at least a month b4 , i dont mean to sound rude but i have been burnt before from a fishing club with wa**ers dropping out last minute and it costing me cos its raining or the wind is in the east or its going to be a littl bit lumpy or worst of all to pissed.
im sure the are few on hear will vouch im safe with the cash.
also if canceled il return it or book another trip if available.
