The old man breaks his COD duck !

Went out with the old man last night for a few hours in the freezing weather on the Bristol Channel to see if we could tempt a cod or two.

Now the old man has had a new rod for three months now and despite 8 trips out hes failed to catch a thing !!! Yesterday with the day off he had time to ensure his leader was on the reel, bait was fresh and generally very organised - most unusual.

We set up with rag on one rod and lug on the other and he preparation worked - he landed his first fish on the rod a plump 3lb codling !! This was followed by several other very good bites and a lost fish half way in just as we were thinking of packing up. I didnt have so much luck but did manage a codling just over the pound mark.

All in all a lovely evening - a deep red sunset, freezing cold but peaceful and a couple of codling and a very happy old man !!! At last ....................
