polperro and looe trips

sorry its bit l8 , but last week i was in polperro(just other side of looe) so my misus can vist family, which was such a shame as i had to go fishing instead ,
sunday ; my first effort with a m8(bryan) who i know from there was on the wall at polperro harbour with some rag , we managed a wrasse and some rockling. i would have gone to the light house but with a strong wind blowing i gave that up as a bad idea.

monday ; was ment to be my first boat trip , but it was called off . so me and bryan plus his nephew had another go from the rocks which we had loads of wrasse to about 2lb and bryans nephew had a monster of over 5lb.

tuesday; finaly got out on the boat (the swallow) was lumpy to say the least but in such a soild boat was fishable if your not pissed up like the rest of the fellas that turned up, to be honist some were a f***ing pain in the arse at times. still i did manage a good haul of ling ,conger, pollock and whiting plus a massive jumbo mackerel, but mackerel generely was hard to find

wednesday; weather ment to be nice ...........bollox ..... just as rough again and the fishing not quite as good. murry collins the skipper tryed every think he could but it was just one of then hard days, i did scrape out a few conger and pollock, but the biggest problem was no mackerel,

i then had a day with the missus and typical the wind dropped away and sun was in full force ::)

friday ; we sat off in to a loverly day in serch of the blue sharks.
this time plenty of mackerel and things looked good.
we started drifting and floats all set but nothink by midday so in came the baits and freshen up , off we go again .
but not a thing showed on the floats or rachets. even though the gulls did keep getting spoocked, as the end came we started to reel in and saw that one of the baits had been biten though and it was clear it was a shark bite .

close but no cigar. always next time

was a great holiday/ get away and will be going back down in oct and plan to try for a blue again if thay are still about

if any one is going that way id recomend murry collins to any one
his boat is the swallow and phone him on 07831616316

cheers john

Re: polperro and looe trips

A nice haul of species there John, shame about the shark. I have always wanted to go shark fishing, I might see if I can get myself down there one day and have a bash.

Re: polperro and looe trips

Well done John.
I'm off this week & the weather forecast looks dire again.
Only ever been sharking once & didn't even get a bait touched.
Was hot & sunny though... back in the mists of time when we got a summer.
