trying to become a rockhopper penguin

well last night I was desperate to " proper "fish but where to go
after a few texts i had someone else interested in a trip out , the main aim was to pop my conger and thornie cherry, on the drive up to the north I stupidly decided I was feeling fit and wanted a challenge, and so it was soon after that that myself and taff were stood at brean carpark gates looking at this



many mythical things i have been told of this hill so i geared down , and after hearing weather report we both left waterproof leggings behind* see later, along with big camera and 2 of the 4 beers

well to be honest it didnt seem as bad as i thought and only stopped 3 times, mostly trying to talk through burning lungs to those coming down who all asked " hope its worth it??" to which we replied " of caurse it will "

then we headed off with taff leading
off through brambles and gorse( well i found plenty anyway)
till eventually we came to this platform with the sea way below us
" this is the mark!!" i was told

and soon we were set up


and while waiting for the water to arrive ( got there 6pm at low)went hunting for leads below
not bad had 1 each

view from bottom to see taff at top( this running up and down was also the way to bring in fish if we got one )

going down here was far harder than scrambling back up

well the water eventually arrived and first cast my rod went mad after only 5 mins , a big swirl in water and yes you guess it i missed my first conger

a while later and another good bite missed
taff had the only fish of the night with a tiny whiteing on double sandeel( in august)

we fished untill 11 when a horrid big band of rain came through and we decided nothing was worth getting that wet, see waterproofs above

a good if not energetic night( helping me lose the weight though)
slowly becoming one of these


but my serial blanking is still confirmed and my cherry intact

tonight i'm staying local and will!!!!!!!!!! catch a fish!!!!

good effort m8, i went there once but got as far as the piccy above and thought feck that! fished the beach n blanked.
might give it a go one day.

Unlucky mate. North coast just isn't happening for you this summer is it? Maybe when the cod start to push through???
