Blue Anchor 7 August 2008

Morning all,

Just a quick report to say that BA is still pretty dire. I fished 2hours before HT (11.15am) until about 1 hour after yesterday and ended up scratching to avoid a blank. I eventually caught two tiny Whiting on very small mackerel baits on a size 4 two hook flapper. Damn hard work.
The wall was quite busy but I only saw one other small Whiting come in. Surprisingly, no doggies at all.

I'm trying further up the Bristol Channel on Sunday morning, fishing Sand Point with a mate. I'll let you know how it goes. My mate says there's a chance of a Ray or two but I haven't heard any particularly inspiring reports. One thing's for sure though - I won't catch sitting in front of this thing.

Tight lines to everyone venturing out.

Well done on avoiding the blank Rich. It feels good when you've had to work hard at it eh?

Good luck for Sunday.

Re: Blue Anchor 7 August 2008

A skipper in Minehead told me in June last year that the doggies just disappear in August. He couldn't give a reason for it. Perhaps they just all go on holiday at the same time.
Good luck with the ray hunt - I'm still after one from the shore
