tactics for ness beach shaldon ?

me and my mate are fishing ness beach this thursday 19/06/08 does anybody know the best rigs and bait for smoothhounds and bass

your best bet will be crab. I wouldn't go any bigger than a size 1/0 hook for the smuts but would tend to go 6/0 or bigger for the bass! I take it you are fishing into the night?

To be honest this is only what I have heard on other forums and through mates who have caught Smuts themselves! I have never been for them personally but it's something I will be targeting this year, if I can convince mulletmad to take me!!!

Been catching a few smuts in East Devon on 3/0 pulley rig with crab lately. There's a good post of pulley rigs somewhere on the forum.
