Devils Point Plymouth

Hi guys, off down the west for the weekend.

Allowed to take the rods by the missus so fancy a go somewhere, fished Mountbatten last year without much success so fancy Devils Point this time.

Not knowing the area at all, where exactly can you fish, I have lloked at google earth etc and it seens from the car park/swimming pool towards the point ? Can you get down there to the water or should I be looking at somewhere else ?

Hmmmm. My nornal fishing buddy is bu**ering off to London for the weekend and I've wanted to fish Devils for a while.

When exactly were you thinking Rob??

Hi mate,
Devils is on the plymouth side, i think you're looking at the mount edgecombe side mentioning a swimming pool
What do you want to fish for or is it just a fish for whatevers there?
Devils is known for the conger mainly but you can catch the usual mackerel, gar, pollack and wrasse there aswel but its very rocky so expect to loose some gear if you decide to go there

There is a free car park close to the point and the point is a concrete platform not too high up from the water surrounded by rocks which are called eastern kings and western kings (if i remember rightly)

Thanks for that Steve, the bit I am looking at is the platorm(s) on the Plymouth side ... swimming pool is perhaps the wrong description !

I have heard of Conger - UK record was caught there so 8/0's & big baits ! but interesting to hear of Gars as well .... I'll try a bit of everyting - who knows !

The platforms the right place
Yea the record was caught there by Martin Larkin whos from around here.
He caught it on a pollack bait and missed the first bite but it came back so if you do get a bite and miss it dont rush bringing it in!
