Red face east portlemouth for excercise

well i'll warn you know there are no fish in this report
but after working down in totnes decided on fishing somewhere different
thought of dartmouth but music festival as was rammed, so headed out along slapton
beautifull looking but quite a big surf, but the 50/60 yrds of may bloom put me off

so i eventually ended up at east portlemouth , in search of a ray again

set up on main beach for 6pm( which i had almost too myself), and after a chat to a club mate who fished there recently decamped and went up and over hill to left to possibly one of the nicest fishing bays/beach i have ever been too, and whats more I had it all to myself FANTASTIC

after a while of complete inactivity i got a txt from man in know ( well kev (wellyfish) actually) and he said i should have gone to right of original beach, sod it i thought i was here and that was it, but then a pair if seals came to visit and play so i did move up and over hill you can see in 2nd pic and back over main beach to right infront of boathouse

again i had whole beach to myself should have realised what that meant
also realised after low water allowed i could have gone alot further right but i wasnt moving again

weed was a bit of aproblem but fishable
well after all this non frantic fishing activity( it was so quiet you could hear the seaweed crackiling as it dried out and the barnicles on the rocks bubbling, and a full moon meant i didnt really need tiplights) I was going to pack up about 11.30 on low water as nothing had happened then i missed one of those horrible big springback and slack bites( esaa rules it was a doggie)

so of cause I fished on, packed up 12.40 as ran out of mackeral bait
found a really intersting route home along a tidal road as well, so fell through the door about 2.40 this morning

was a gorgeous eve and an area i will def go back to
there is a ray with my name on there, and a family picnic on beach maybe

dave

Re: east portlemouth for excercise

hey dave you were still in the wrong place mate you need to walk a bit more to the right past the wooden ramp to the corner and have the stone wall to your back ,let me know next time your down and will show ya ....we have a few dolphins in the estuary at the moment, not sure how they affect the fishing but great to watch them ,later mate

Re: east portlemouth for excercise

I fish Portlemouth quite a bit but have never fished that far into the mouth! I've always had more success at ditch end down to the right of the ferry! The point that sticks out about another 400yds up river is a good thornie mark!

The beach you fished looks a little shallow and you might of been bes off flicking 30-40 casts with crab for the bass!
