Sandy bay - Dolphin Magic !

Launched our boat last Wednesday for the season - bloody freezing but flat calm and then the sun came out. Planned a few hours out to mark the route across the infamous sandbanks off Exmouth beaches - whilst plotting the route we were surrounded by 9 beautiful dolphins !!

Now I reckon people go miles abroad for such a site but to have them swimming in 3 pods in about 30 feet of water they were amazing going under the boat - what an amazing site !

That was followed by three drifts over the Boma wreck 8 miles out with no interest before we shot back in for a try for the early makeral - nothing doing out off Sandy bay but quite suprisingly they were around in numbers just off the earlier sandbanks in 20 feet of water - so half a dozen came home for tea - what a nice early suprise - and they are great to catch !!

All in all a great day out and fngers crossed we have a better summer than last year.

Tommy

Thumbs up Re: Sandy bay - Dolphin Magic !

Nice one Tommy. Glad to hear the Mackerel are starting to show. Did you manage to get any photos of the Dolphins? I tried when I was in India. I swear the Dolphins were having a laugh with me. If I pointed my camera to one side of the boat, they would jump on the other..... Great animals though.

Re: Sandy bay - Dolphin Magic !

No bloomin photos as we were in shock - one charter boat on its way out did stop and as the dolphins swam towards them all the anglers got their cameras out - needless to say another one came from behind and under the boat and splashed every single one of them !!!

Great view though and superb just off the beaches !!

Must have been a great sight, Tommy. Would love to see something like that myself.

Well done on the mackies

Well done mate, must have been an incredible sight. Last Wednesday was nice!

Good to know the mackie are back, I'd heard of a few, but not close enough to get at from the shore yet!

i'd have loved to have seen that, have only come close by seeing the porpoise in the bristol channel but they are too spooky to get near too.
