Thumbs up Ohh pollocks the ray werent there (salcombe 24/3/8)

After Hearing such great reports of big ray down in Salcombe I just couldnt stand it any longer so last week planned a big session down in Salcombe with Welly and Baggie, at possibly the most comfortable venue I have ever fished( only for the privaledged Thanks Kev ;icon_jook)
tides were a bit late but work prevented earlier visits so tonight was the night

arriving just on sunset and high tide this is one geourgeous looking eastuary and i'm not jealous of Kev working here at all

after a shortish walk to the mark over flat ground negotiating past the Mercs , Jags and Astons we found the fishing spot

we knew this was going to be a late night, as had to fish the low water for chance of the ray and this wasnt untill 2am, and after big old moon came out it was going to be a tough one as well

whilst the water was high though decided to play arround for anything else, especially Pollock and after changing to tipping the worm baits with squid managed 3 in short succession, great thats 1.5 points and not a blank

then a proper 3 beard rockling( as fairly sure after scrutiny we got it wrong on earlier one and was a 5)

as the tide dropped so the baits changed to big mackeral or crab baits purely after Ray now, but nothing was happening

baggie and welly were doing the usual trick of jinxing each other as both were blanking again

Kev headed off about 12.30 as he had to walk down from his room in hotel to work this morning
leaving us to fish to low, and hopefully breaking the jinx for rich

unfortunately this didnt happen, but we gave it a good shot leaving at 2.30 , tackle box much lighter after losing 8 leads and rigs on another of kevs clean ground venues(anyone remember brixham break water )

then a fun and tired drive through some very rural roads

but i will be back mate very very soon as was a good night in good company again and didnt seem as far to drive( 1 hr 15 on way home mate) as i thought, and i want a big ray

thanks again kev was a top night

Re: Ohh pollocks the ray werent there (salcombe 24/3/8)

Fantastic night, but big trouble this morning when after getting in a 3:30am, I failed to drag my sorry backside out of bed to do the school run. Mrs Baggie was decidedly pi**ed off... Ah well, totally worth it, even for the blank. The surroundings were the very lap of luxury, and the views just stunning. Kev, you're a lucky guy and a top host. Cheers mate.

Damned jinx.
