Abbortsbury Help Please

Chaps,

A few of us are thinking of heading to Abbortsbury ( I think thats how its spelt ) down by Chesil for a days fishing next week. Can anyone let us know how its fishing and how we might get there - heard a few little stories that there might be a few decent whiting and codling showing off the shingle down there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ora PM with directions etc.

Churz

Re: Abbortsbury Help Please

Tommy,

There are still some good sized whiting showing, with the odd codling still coming out and then the normal pout, dogs etc. To find the coast at Abbotsbury, drive to the village and then follow the signs to the Tropical Gardens, you'll then see signs to the Beach itself, parking is behind the bank on the left. When you fish the mark you can either walk about 15/20 minutes to the right or left to where there is deeper water, or walk straight over the bank and fish in front of the carpark, the water is shallower (still deep by comparison with most marks). I would give Weymouth Angling Centre a call before you decide as they might suggest fishing up at the Weymouth end of the bank, as the fishing does seem to change along the bank week to week.

Good luck. Tony

Re: Abbortsbury Help Please

As a rule, the Cod fishing on Chesil drops off in December until the end of Feb when the spring run starts.
There is always a chance of picking a rogue one up but the whiting will be around in good numbers for another month.
