| Last club match of the year We were blessed with fantastic weather for our last club match of the year. The sea was almost like a mill pond, sun was shining and only a very gentle breeze…..great for the angler but maybe not as good to catch fish?????? Start of the match was 11.30am, sadly not all club members could make it to the last match, still a good turn out with around 12 people. Venue Weston shore, a good flounder spot. View to my right ![]() View to my left ![]() Neptune was kind to me for once and presented me with the first catch of the day, a micro flatty 7oz ![]() I think that’s only the second fish I caught in our club matches throughout the year (I missed a few though). Rigs were 2 hook flapper and wishbone, size 1 hook rag for bait. Justin was the second to catch, not sure on the weight though, was fishing right on the other side. Next in line was young Fisherdan, with a 12 oz flatty, Lee followed with a 7oz one, Dan again with a 14 oz, soon after with a 1lb3oz one. Justin managed another 2 flatties and an undersized bass and lost a good size one too. Eddie too had a flatty of about 8oz and Lee managed another of 8oz shortly before finish time. Winner was Justin with a weight just above 3lb, next in line was young Dan with just over 2lb8oz Not a great amount of fish were caught but the weather and company made up for it on our last match of the year. Let’s hope the new year will bring us more fish. Lovely sundown…showing how calm the sea was ![]() __________________ There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind." - Washington Irving |
