Unhappy Blue Anchor 25-11-07

Hi guys i fished blue anchor with my mate tonight 1850 high tide 10.5m .... weather dry with wind blowing w. nw about 10-15 mph ............. got to blue anchor about 1640 and there must have been a comp on because everywhere was chocca with rods managed to squeeze in though... set up and the sea was well and truly dark chocolate coloured so got some big baits prepared. cast out and waited ............................and waited................... rebaited and waited........................and waited.............. and rebaited unfortunately this was the story of the night i had a pout about as big as the hook! still at least i didnt blank unlike my mate lol... so very poor all round i spoke to some of the other guys fishing there and out of about 30 people fishing there was only 4 whiting reportedly caught and my pout so its fishing absolutely shocking cheers...........

Re: Blue Anchor 25-11-07

Not read or heard anything good from Blue Anchor for ages. Throws up the occasional good fish, but rarely!

Thanks for post and reminding me not to go there.

Re: Blue Anchor 25-11-07

no it seems like most of the channel i fish which is watchet all the way down to clovelly isnt fishing that great the few codling that were about seem to have dryed up, iv got a couple of mates who are skippers and they have said the same that even they re not finding fish like they expect too , this time of year. A friend of mine fished ilfracombe saturday night and he never even had a bite and normally if no one else is catching he always seems to find the fish ... jammy get ... but all in all it seems like the channel is struggling to produce at the moment but that said its still fairly mild for this time of year so hopefully when the temperature plunges the fishing ll start to pick up !!!! i gonna head out again saturday ill keep you posted cheers

Re: Blue Anchor 25-11-07

hi twilks, i had a codling in front of the golf links in minehead about a month ago and my mate had 2 the weeks after me and i have heard they are still coming of there . the best tide is the big tides or just after a big tide. also i have heard from westcoast angling in watchet that dunster is doing well for cod but must be fished on the big tides.
