North coast reef fishing

Hi all, decided on a trip to North Somerset to see if there was an early cod about on Wednesday, Got there with Mark and two other friends about two hours before low water, we all baited up with crab/squid etc and bunged them out to await results.

Not a lot happened for a while, then i missed a bite, not unusual, then one of the guys had a strap eel. Oh nuts thought i, it's going to be them all day.
It's not often i'm right, but this trip was one of the occasions.

This one is the best i managed:

About six and three quarters. Later on, about 3 hours into the flood, we moved around to a sheltered bay, where yet more conger came to the shore,

This one was about four pounds, Max was interested to say the least!

I returned the eel and walked the 20 yards or so back to my box for a re-bait, when I turned around my loving hound presented me with the recently returned conger which he had retrieved from the surf! Bless him
Return the same eel twice, twice the amount of slime.. made sure it swam off this time though!

Right at the death, one of the guys had a bad over run which caused the gear to land 10 yards out, whilst untangling it, his rod lurched a bit, which resulted in a codling of a couple of pounds! I'm buying a handline!!

Sadly after that, no more fish, still i don't mind catching eels, hell, i'm grateful for anything! All fish caught deserve respect in my view.

Take it easy

Ian

Well done Ian. Really must meet up and you can show me and Ping how it's done!

Re: North coast reef fishing

Oops I must have missed this thread, hope Max will forgive me

Shame you didn't manage any cod Ian but at least the eels kept you and 'cutie' busy.

Sounds like Max got the fishing bug too
