Clevedon "Spearfisher" 7/10/07

Quick trip out today on my mate Paul's boat from Clevedon.

Left when there was enough water to get on the boat and out of the mud.

Some photos of the Clevedon Pill area and the channel out.

Fishing was slow and after an hour no bites at all. We stuck at it with prime lug, crab baits cast out up against the tide. Waited and watched the other boats for any action.

I eventually had a huge slack line bite and wound down to it, felt like the bottom almost stuck fast. Rod bent right over and strong pulls meant this was not the bottom. Took a long time to shift the fish and to get him moving. Glad when the leader was a good few turns on the reel.

My best ray to date which went just over 10lb.

A couple of codling on the other boats but no big numbers of them. A few other Ray caught and some doggies for the other boats.

Codling don't seem to be here yet except some on the very upper channel marks from Avonmouth to Aust.
