Red face Doh went the wrong way on weekend(battery point)

hi all
saturday lovely day , car loaded up with delicious goodies for the cod on chesil as so many good reports and with working in lyme regis only 10 mins away from job

during the morning I get a phone call from Si (ESAA) saying club having a wee get together on Bc at Battery point portished near bristol, heard of conger/sole and thornies over the low tide, did i fancy it, so i thought to myself do i drive 10 miles sit on own on chesil , chill out and try for a cod or belt 60miles accross somerset and try a new mark on Bc for new species,

well i decided to head north ( as always good to try somewhere new and will be back to chesil very soon) so finished work at 6 and was at battery point soon after 7.15ish(thought that was pretty good), quick info from howie, this forums great for info(cheers mate your pm, will be very handy next trip as well) and then the others from club arrived

we headed for an area I now know is known as the bunker so headed off through the undergrowth and down some very slippery rocks in the sudden gloom onto the lovely mud(rockhopper penguin time)

fished 1 rod 3/0 pennel lots of lug and squid(cod/conger etc)
other rod 3 hook flapper rag and squid (sole)

we fished 3 hours down and 1 up untill we called it a day(work again silly o clock sunday, some people were just turning up as we left too fish the flood from the lighthouse ), junior member perry had a tiny whiting, another had a strap conger, me well I had diddly, felt better as a local guy didnt fare any better either I just got covered in that thick sticky mud
think some will stay as reminder on tackle for years too come

got home about 12.30 damn good venue though and i will be back and try again(with wellies next time) and maybe daylight to really suss it out

dave

Re: Doh went the wrong way on weekend(battery point)

That's the spirit I like...going back and won't be beaten by a venue
Shame about the lack of fish but no doubt you will make up for it next time.

Mmmh sound good stuff to have a mud wrestling in

Re: Doh went the wrong way on weekend(battery point)

Unlucky dave mate,
Im sure when, and if you go back again then their will be fish for you to have mate.the brick house(bunker) is a dam good spot for the cod/codling,i've had some brillant sessions there.Did you lose much gear their dave?and did you notice how fast the tide runs their, next time when you go their try taking lug and some of those peelers that you had on the selsey trip mate.As peelers will always get them cod going and would put some fish up on the rocks next time for you mate.
unlucky mate
better luck next time
howie
ps sorryi could'nt put you in contact with them fish, bit i do know they are around tho cheers mate
howie

Well done Ping. Them ESSA boys certainly know how to hunt down them, err, pints. Who needs Cod anyway?

Good report mate.

Cool Re: Doh went the wrong way on weekend(battery point)

Unlucky Dave...but the Channel is like that, they're on the tide or they're not.

Obviously Peeler tipped with a piece on Pingu Pie would have worked!!

Don't give up Pingu Patience willpay pay off mate.
