Two Little Boys - Watchet Seafire 5th July 2007

Just back after a few days at Donniford Bay.

Took my beach gear and an uptide rod and was hoping to get out and have a session up there.

Weather was difficult all week but managed to get out with my two boys for a boat trip out of Watchet. Skipper Shaun Anning, Seafire telephone 01984 634507 or boat 07711 215695.

Boat left at 8.00am from Watchet Harbour. The other boat is Scooby Doo which left at same time.

Through the harbour entrance.

and out to sea.

Was hoping for some Ray and really wanted my boys to have a conger or two and get them hooked on fishing for life.

I was really worried about taking them out but they sat well and listened and with some constant help the eldest was fishing away as long as I did the bait part!

First fish was a small thornback for my eldest which he really enjoyed catching.

Next up were congers.

Started to think that the kids were going to beat me and my target Ray was never going to appear but after all it was great just to see the kids enjoying themselves.

Eventually after conger and dogfish fell to my Mackerel, Squid and Peeler Crab baits my rod nodded and twitched and this little fella came in.

Nice bit of scenery and 3 cups of tea made by the skipper (In 4 hours) !

Happy times and happy kids.

Smelly hands up!

Would recommend a trip out on Seafire to other members and think I will give it another go in a few weeks time, might take the kids again.

Sounds a great session, well done...it's always great to see youngsters enjoying the sport.

A tip:
if you want your pics showing in your report, copy the IMG code from your photo bucket, that way the pics will show directly in your report

Well if the rest of your reports are anywhere near as good as this one I'm sure we'll all be looking forward to them. Well done and welcome.

Top report & pics Ian. I should think your lads will be hooked for life now. Could get expensive at Christmas & their birthdays when the tackle catalogues come out though....
