Minehead area w/c 23rd Jun

Hi all
Report for w/c 23rd Jun… apologies for the delay
Mainly fished Blue Anchor over tides varying from very small to touching the wall.
I would not recommend very small tides as you will only be fishing in a few feet of water , live & learn.
Wind blew in all week from W or NW straight along wall & it wasn’t a gentle Zephyr.
Saturday 1 little doggie - bait used Mackerel strips.
Sunday 1 baby tope & few little whiting (I think) – bait used lug & Mackerel strips.
Monday might of blanked this day .
Tuesday – Lynmouth & a tour of Exmoor in the rain. (Lobster, prawns, big prawns, massive pink shrimps, mussels, other shelfish, anchovies, salmon, something white smoked & crab claw). Other half had Cod & chips.
Wednesday – went to Porlock Weir for a change fished 1 hour down & 5 up caught a better doggie over low water, then nothing till near the end when 3 small whiting and a small pouting attached themselves (Squid & Mackerel bait)
Thursday – back to Porlock 2 down & 2 up (lose less tackle catch less fish), blanked.
Friday – went out on Mary Ellen or Edwin John from Minehead (the one without the cabin) .
Caught lots of doggies, a pleasure after the 6 days before, a few strap congers & a couple of 6lb ish thornies.
Saturday – went home happy & was stuck on M4 for an hour 1 mile from my exit junction .
Won’t bother anyone with pictures as they all look like they were taken at night, though all were taken during the day.
I will recommend the Sheep Stagger cider from the cider farm between Williton & B.A. lovely drop .
Hopefully another week in the autumn, until then just the odd days out here & there.

Always appreciate it when someone goes to the trouble to put in a report.
Certainly got my attention, especially that cider , til I reread the name of course .

Re: Minehead area w/c 23rd Jun

Cheers folks.
Tope caught by missus from shore, a foot long, no weight, bluey grey colour, looked like a tiny shark, I think Lazarus posted a picture of one a couple of months ago.
Quite a few have been caught from B.A. recently.

Only went on a boat on the Friday - rest came ffrom shore.
Will try larger baits from shore next time, no makerel strips on 1/0s ...1/2 a mackerel & whole squid on a big hook instead.

Cider was 7.4%, they do a stronger one called Tornado at 8% but it was just that tad too dry.
