Boat Trip Thurs 24th May Report

Went out on the Sea Angler 2 skippered by Malcolm Jones on a conger trip

Nice small tides and perfect weather absolutly flat calm

Set out at 7.45 towards the mackerel shoals to get our bait

Stopped about 3 miles off shore where we got a few mackerel but was slow so we carried on out further and got some more out there which was a bit better

Once we had enough we steamed on out to the wreck

Started off havin a few drifts to pass the time til we anchored which brought some pout and ling on the boat (Rigmaster had a ling which hes got the pic of)

After a few drifts we anchored up ready for the eels and were greeted by the seaguls, got a pic to show how flat it was

Only pout and ling in the first hour but there was one nice ling of about 15-18lb brought up

Then someone had the first conger so things started lookin up but after this it stayed slow with only 7 or 8 eels brought up

I had the biggest of 30lb and 1 smaller of about 15lb

Conger were so slow that we had the anchor up and moved to a different wreck to do some more driftin which brought more ling and pout to the boat and a pollack for rigmaster

Stopped on the way in for some fresh mackerel to take home then arrived in the harbour at around half 6

Nice day out, red as a tomato by the end of it but got myself 1.5 points for the conger

and rigmaster had 2 or 3 species he hadnt had before
