Budleigh Report Just a quick report as I have tons of work to do... Fished Budleigh Estuary end from around 4pm to 7pm yesterday. Had 2 very good takes on a size 5 hook using fresh peeler tipped with a strip of mackerel, not sure what the fish were as they were managing to get off when I pulled them in. Im pretty sure they werent dogs as they were good takes. Changed down to a size 2 hook with just Mackerel strip and pulled in a big dog (not Tim Westwood). Beach was busy, tide was very high and the water was Crystal. Fed up with catching dogs at Budleigh so im going to try and give Sidmouth a go tonight as long as I can get through all my work and stay awake!!! Will report back soon.

Re: Budleigh Report Well, worked far too much over the weekend and decided that I would benefit from sleeping in bed rather than on the beach in the wind and rain!!!! so I didnt manage to get out last night. I will hopefully get down there one evening this week. If they were bass they were probably little schoolies as they were good takes but didnt seem to fight that well. I guess we will find out over the next few weeks...

Re: Budleigh Report Hi mate, Try and get yourself some circle hooks, if you get fast bites again then pop one one and don't strike! just pick up the rod and reel, i've been in that situation with schoolies before and its the only way i've found to successfully hook them!

Re: Budleigh Report 2/0 or 3/0 are a good starting point mate, just depends on the size of the bait you're using, bind your crab to the back of these hooks, and just remember not to strike!
